The Lord is Working!

6:30 pm and we just checked on Levi.  His fluid retention is not completely where they want it but it is much, much better! He called in an endocrinologist because he thought there was more going on than he'd originally thought.  (He used the analogy that if you are driving a car and your foot is pressing the brake to the floor but the car isn't stopping, obviously there is something else wrong than the brake pedal.)  The endo dr put him on cortisol and now his blood pressure, which has been up and down all week, has been riding stable all afternoon!  They are still trying to regulate his sodium levels.  Well, the morning started very poorly but we have positive updates and pray that this is our last backwards step and very definitely our last bad scare!

In the morning they plan to lower the dose of Pentabarbitol that is keeping him in a coma.  They will begin by lowering it a very little bit, and if he begins having seizure activity on the EEG they will bring it back up.  BUT if he does well then they will lower the dose a bit again, and so on.  I don't know how much time goes by between lowering from dose to dose, but I'm excited for the process to start.

I keep my eyes on the future and every victory the Lord gives us, like the first medicine he is free of, and all those after; when his breathing tube comes out and we can see his sweet face more clearly; the day we can hold him again!!; the day we leave the ICU, and so on.  Your prayers are so appreciated!  Knowing that many people are standing in agreement with us for this precious little boy is so encouraging to us!  Keep the prayers coming!  All our love, Pat and Lynn

  1. I am so happy to hear the good news about Levi. That day will come soon when you leave the Icu. And when you leave its like pressure is lifted off your shoulder. Keep the updates coming. I went to church tonight and we prayed for him. Take care and stay strong I know its hard.
